Virus in Cruise Ship

Gastrointestinal illness may affect persons who travel in cruise ship. Norovirus is one type of gastrointestinal illness, which is highly contagious type. Norovirus is certainly not confined to Cruise ship passengers only. Any place of close communities like nursing homes may spread the disease.  The virus remains active even after 2 weeks in an infected person who remain contagious. It is doubtful also the affected persons remain confined or not for the protected period. The nature of cruise has the potentiality to spread the disease through the food and utensils used especially if the crewmembers those serve food become sick.

Passengers traveling in cruise ship may spread the disease simply by touching the handrails, walls and mirror. Normally, disinfectants are spread in all common places and sick persons are kept confined. But, after recovery whether the person remains confined during the protected period or not is questionable.

Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches, low-grade fever and chills. Once one 21 old died after disembarking from ship after two days and the cause was reported to be complications from Norovirus infection.

Norovirus is not usually significant health hazard, but they are extremely unpleasant both for passengers as well as for the cruise ship companies who sponsor such luxury trips.

For cruise companies who sponsor such trips, such type of health hazard is really becoming trouble shooters with number of passengers are continuously growing.

So far as passengers are concerned, in case of such illness, it becomes a horrifying experience to undergo and the confinement in case of getting quarantined. The whole journey intentioned to be of pleasure trip in luxury turns out to be a nightmare in the true sense of the term

Worst still is the fact that there is no vaccine or preventives medicine to tackle the illness. One may strengthen their immune system with natural remedies like Echinacea or nutritional immune supplements. These may support the immune system to resist any infection.
